House Republicans Are Ignoring the First Rule of Political Survival

The “Big, Beautiful Bill” is shaping up to be a disaster for the EV and auto industry. For a full rundown on how it’s shaping up, check out this breakdown.

In Bloomberg today, Ron Brownstein wrote about how this bill is working against the political best-interest (and the best interest of their constituents) of many Reps who support it.

Why? These members are voting to defund manufacturing projects and jobs in their own districts!

For those who can’t passed the paywall, find our own Mike Murphy providing his perspective bill that’s on pace to become law:

Mike Murphy, a long-time Republican political strategist who now runs the American EV Jobs Alliance, partly faults the Biden administration for failing to more effectively explain the connection between new factories and the federal incentives. His group has launched a text campaign to reach one million voters in 28 Republican-held House districts with substantial EV- related employment. “Right now, it’s a free vote for many of these guys because nobody in the district knows about any of this stuff except the Chamber of Commerce,” he says.
